Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q

Does Practical Bathing provide a full installation service?
A Yes! Practical Bathing has many years of experience in installing baths and showers for private individuals, care homes and hospitals. Complete refurbishments can be handled. Please see Recent Projects for some examples.

Q

Do I have to have the product installed by Practical Bathing?
A Some products can be installed by your own plumber, but some must be installed by specially trained fitters. Please call us to discuss.

Q

With so many products available, how can I be sure to make the right choice?
A Our friendly and knowledgeable advisors are here to help! They will be happy to discuss your particular situation, and advise on the best solution.

Q

What will it cost?
A Of course, each installation will be different. A brand new ground floor flat may present a different amount of work to a third floor bathroom in an older property. Simply call to discuss your situation and requirements, and we'll do our best to give you a guide price based upon previous experience.

Q

Will I have to pay VAT?
A If under the HMRC Reference: Notice 701/7 VAT reliefs for disabled people, you meet the conditions required, we can supply goods without charging VAT. A VAT Exemption form can be found on the Purchasing page of this web site.

Q

How do I know which bath or shower will fit?
A Dimensions are provided on this site to assist you (remember to consider the positions and possible relocation of water pipes and waste). You may also need to consider the availability of a suitable electric supply for lifts, pumps or spas. When we handle the complete installation, these matters will be dealt with during our pre-sales survey.

Q

How reliable are the door seals on walk-in baths?
A The baths are rigorously tested by the manufacturers, and seals are guaranteed for 10 years. Inward opening doors actually seal tighter as the bath fills due to the water pressure.

Q

Why do all Practical Bathing walk-in baths feature steel frames?
A Steel frames are robust and practical. Old fashioned baths with wooden frames make installation difficult, plus access for maintenance is virtually impossible without removing the bath.
